One exciting thing about the new video game that most people overlooked is its several references to Tobey Maguire’sSpider-Manmovies.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2is the first PlayStation 5-exclusive video game. Insomniac Games did a great job with the game. The story of twoSpider-Mancoming together to save New York is the story for the ages. But another exciting thing aboutMarvel’s Spider-Man 2is that it has references to fan favourite Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man movies to build on the nostalgia.
3Tobey Maguire’s Black Suit Reference
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2has given the fans what they want. Moreover, Insomniac games have even included a few references to Tobey Maguire’sSpider-Manmovies. The first reference happened after theVenomSymbiote merged with Peter Parker and became the Black Suit. Peter Parker was seen web-swinging through the city in broad daylight. This scene was included in the video game.
The following reference came a bit later. After the Venom Symbiote tried to merge with Peter forcefully, Peter tried to rip off his Black Suit while the Symbiote tried its hardest to cover up Peter. InMarvel’s Spider-Man 2, the same scene happened. While the Symbiote was forcefully trying to merge with Peter Parker, the user had to use the Right and Left Stick rotation of their DualSense to rip off the suit.

2Bully Maguire and Dr. Connors Reference
The most iconic of these references came when Peter Parker in the Black Suit made the Bully Maguire hand gestures. His pointing of his two index fingers towards another person is one of the best moments in the game. The following reference was when Dr. Connors explained theVenomSymbiote to Peter Parker. There was practically no difference between these scenes, with the camera focusing on Dr. Connors and Peter putting his back toward the camera.
1Dusty Reference
The Last reference to Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man movies came with the“I’m gonna put some dirt in your eye”reference. InMarvel’s Spider-Man 2, Peter Parker’s Spider-Man was fighting against a few thugs in the park, and he used this reference. InSpider-Man 3, Tobey Maguire said this line after Eddie Brock published his article on demeaningSpider-Man.
