Pierce Brosnanwent on to play the role of iconic British secret service agent, James Bond in 4 movies when he first took up the role back in 1995. Once back in 2015, Brosnan opened up about the future of the character after Daniel Craig retires and revealed that he believes the character can go to a black actor but not to a woman. He said,

“Anything is possible for sure, but I think he’ll be male and he’ll be white. There are wonderful black actors out there who could be James Bond, and there’s no reason why you cannot have a black James Bond. But a female James Bond, no, I think it has to be male. James Bond is a guy, he’s all male. His name is James, his name is James Bond.”

Idris Elba

Pierce Brosnan once even voiced his support to cast Idris Elba as the next Bond after Daniel Craig back in 2015. He said,

“Let’s start with a great black actor being James Bond. Idris Elba certainly has the physicality, the charisma, the presence but I think Daniel will be there for a while yet.”

The thing about the James Bond movies is that the franchise needs an actor who can do multiple movies and play the role of Bond for almost 10-15 years and no one is looking for that kind of commitment.

All of Daniel Craig’s James Bond movies are available for rent on Amazon Prime Video.
