October is fast approaching, and with it comesMarvel’s Spider-Man 2. Insomniac Games is giving fans some more information on their long-awaited sequel. Today, on thePlayStation Blog, the developers revealed the full accessibility options forMarvel’s Spider-Man 2.

Players can look forward to reducing the game speed, Challenge Level Modifiers, and Audio Frequency controls. More accessibility options are coming to the game post-launch as well. All of these options should make playing the game more comfortable for players around the world.
Accessibility Features of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2
Last month, it was leaked that slowing down time was an accessibility option forMarvel’s Spider-Man 2. Now officially unveiled, players can slow down the game speed by 30%, 50%, or 70%. The feature was part of a previous Insomniac Games title,Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, and it returns for this title.
The devs talk about the features being used in gameplay, such as gaining more time between button presses against Kraven’s Hunters or the epic Lizard boss fight.

In addition, slowing down time will make capturing the perfect shot inMarvel’s Spider-Man 2easier. It’s going to be amazing to see what photographers can create with the new game speed options.

Players can also map the game speeds to one of the D-pad buttons, left or right. These buttons are meant for shortcuts. Players can also map certain moves, like the yank and throw environment, to the shortcuts.
These moves require the player to hold one or two buttons, and the shortcut feature does it automatically. This is an excellent feature for those who may not be able to hold two buttons at the same time or simply want a faster way to do the moves.

Another gameplay accessibility option is the Challenge Level Modifiers. Players can still choose between the normal difficulty options, such as Friendly, Amazing, and Spectacular. However,Marvel’s Spider-Man 2is going one step further with these modifiers.
Using the same difficulty labeling players can customize the Enemy Health, Enemy Damage, and Stealth Awareness.

While the challenge level difficulty is set to Amazing, players can switch the Enemy Health, Enemy Damage, and/or Stealth Awareness to whatever difficulty they see fit. Stealth sections giving you trouble? Change Stealth Awareness to Friendly; hopefully that’ll ease some frustration.

These options will cater to how the player wants to enjoy the game. Other returning accessibility options include Chase Assist, Dodge/Parry Timing, and Enhanced Auto Aim.
The finalMarvel’s Spider-Man 2accessibility option that will be available at launch is the Audio Frequency Controls. If players want a cutoff for high and/or low frequency sounds, the option is available to them.

High frequencies will cutoff at 6,000 Hz and low-frequencies will cutoff at 600 Hz. According to Insomniac Games’support page, the Notch Frequency Filter will allow the player to remove a specific frequency range.
Post Launch Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Accessibility Features
After October 20, Insomniac Games will continue to introduce more accessibility options for the game. One of the options is Audio Description. An Audio Description is a narrator who will provide context to players who may not be able to see the screen. It’s a feature used in movies and television before, but for gaming, it’s still relatively new.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2will also have a screen reader to assist players in menus, tutorials, and more. Highly customizable captions like the text size, color, and background color are coming post-launch as well. Expect all of these accessibility options to be inMarvel’s Spider-Man 2in December 2023 as a free update.
What do you think of the accessibility options? Are you going to use any of them inMarvel’s Spider-Man 2? Let us know in the comments!
