It hasn’t been long since the world recovered from the Covid pandemic and made us all realize how terrifying situations can become. The film28 Days Latergave us all a taste of that two decades ago.

The story followed Murphy’s character Jim as he navigates his way after waking up from a coma only to find the world had been taken over by a deadly virus that’s turning them into zombies.
The film, made on a humble budget of just $8 Million, zoomed to $82.7 Million and was a sweeping hit. And now,Cillian Murphywants that bone-chilling experience again.

Cillian Murphy and Danny Boyle May Collaborate Soon For A Threequel
There had been a sequel –28 Weeks Laterwhich came out only five years after the first. Cillian Murphy and Danny Boyle could not collaborate on the project and ultimately, Jeremy Renner was cast as the lead actor.
Cillian Murphy said to Horowitz –
“I’d love to do it. There needs to be a script, and Danny needs to find the time, and Alex needs to feel that there’s more story to tell.”
The 47-year-old actor didn’t know it initially, but Danny Boyle and writer Alex Garland have already been cooking something.
In an interview with Inverse back in June, Garland said –
“A few years ago an idea materialized in my head for what would be really 28 Years Later. Danny always liked the idea.”
Boyle seemed to be equally enthusiastic to come back for a threequel –
“If he doesn’t want to direct it himself I’ll be well up for it if we can execute a similarly good idea.”

He also said that conversations have been happening and the people attached to the project have been brainstorming and they are taking it very seriously.
