What did Matt Shakman Say About The Monsterverse Series?

During an exclusive interview with Collider,Matt Shakman, the showrunner and writer of theGodzillaTV Series shared that the series will consist of ten episodes, but he didn’t discuss the story because the timeline is a crucial part of the overall plot.

“You know, I can’t really say because that’s part of the joy of it is, actually timelines [are] a big part of the storytelling. So I just want to say that’s part of it, but I can’t really say more than that.”

However, the writer did share that the budget of the series is quite expensive because bringing Godzilla to the screen is not a walk in the park. Shakman was asked about the budget at his disposal and how much VFX played into the conversation of making the series. He teased that the budget of the series is an extremely important factor, and Godzilla and the Titans will get plenty of screen time.

“It is, it’s a part of everything, obviously, no matter what the scale of something. You always run out of money eventually, even if it’s Harry Potter or Star Wars, Star Trek, Godzilla, you run out of money. But it’s less about carrying out shots, although eventually, you have to do that, and more just about storytelling.”

“You know, how much was Godzilla going to factor into the story, and he has a very important role to play, and how he factors into the series is a big part of it. So that was the bigger driver, and he’s not the only Titan that you’re gonna meet along the way. So there’s, yeah, there’s a VFX conversation constantly happening in that.”

Since the MonsterVerse is known for its epic action sequences, and jaw-dropping visual effects, as well as its love for Godzilla, it will be intriguing to see what the series will have in its store, and how it will go on to shape the timeline.

A Godzilla series may feature MUTO’s Missing Fight

Even though nothing is confirmed, there’s a probability that the series might feature MUTO and their battle might take place because MUTO is also a part of the MonsterVerse. Moreover, it was stated that the Godzilla series will take place after San Francisco has been ravaged by the fight between the two monsters.

However, the franchise would not like to repeat any unnecessary MonsterVerse moments because it costs a fortune. And since the fight was quite long, the probability is less but not zero. It is a mystery why the story of the series is based on events that took place almost a decade ago.
