When it was announced that Stephen King’sThe Dark Towerwas about to get its own live-action film, fans couldn’t control their excitement. They were about to witness one of their favorite series come to life.

35 years after the release of the first book in the much-loved series, fans would get the chance to relish the magic of seeing their favorite characters. But fate had other plans for the Matthew McConaughey starrer.

Fans were disappointed not only because of how bad the film was but also because they knew what it could have been.

Reports claim that after a run of poor test screenings, Sony had no option but to spend $6 million on re-shoots in order to breathe some life into the film. At the center of all these problems, stood Matthew McConaughey and Idris Elba, who were themselves a victim of shoddy management.
