Netflix’s latest Halloween movie,The Curse of Bridge Hollow, is now out on the streaming platform. On this occasion, we spoke with director Jeff Wadlow (Kick-Ass 2, Truth or Dare) about the making of the family-friendly spooky movie,The Curse of Bridge Hollow.

Starring Marlon Wayans (White Chicks, Little Man), Kelly Rowland (American Soul), Priah Ferguson (Stranger Things), and Lauren Lapkus (Orange is the New Black),The Curse of Bridge Hollowtells the story of a teenage girl, Sydney, who freshly moved to Bridge Hollow with her family. Things go awry for her and the town when she accidentally releases an evil spirit, leading to Halloween’s decorations coming alive and becoming real-life monsters.

During our interview with him, we askedJeff Wadlowwhat movies he watched growing up and which inspired him to makeThe Curse of Bridge Hollow:
“The Curse of Bridge Hollow is really inspired by Amblin films from the 80s and 90s. Movies like Gremlins, The Goonies, E.T., these films really inspired Bridge Hollow (…) That’s what I was trying to do, to kind of recapture the mystery and magic and wish fulfillment of those movies.”

Jeff Wadlow also talked about the making of the creatures and monsters we see inThe Curse of Bridge Hollow, from spiders to creepy clowns and bats. The Jim Henson Company, famously known for its work onDark Crystal, The Muppets, and Labyrinth,alsoworked on the design ofThe Curse of Bridge Hollowcreatures.
“TheJim Henson Company made a lot of our monsters. So many great things were made for this movie. We hired four different creature effects houses to work on the film because they were so many monsters to be made.”
