Over the years, many video game franchises have been adapted into TV shows or movies. Some of them have been successful while some were plain boring. The upcoming TV series,Fallout, which is based on the video game franchise, has created a lot of anticipation among the fans but this has left us wondering: What are some other video game franchises that deserve a live-action adaptation?

We’ve seen live-action adaptations of Nathan Drake, Joel Miller, and even Sonic The Hedgedog but these 5 remarkable open-world video games never got a live-action version despite encouragement from the fans:

1)Red Dead Redemption 2(2018)

A prequel to Rockstar Games’ 2010 video gameRed Dead Redemption,Red Dead Redemption 2was released for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in October 2018. Upon release, the game became a massive hit, generating $725 million in sales from its opening weekend and exceeding the lifetime sales ofRed Dead Redemptionin two weeks. A live-action adaptation of this video game would certainly be exciting for the fans.

Bully (2006)

2)Far Cry 3(2012)

Ubisoft’sFar Cry 3(2012) was the third installment in theFar Cryseries and despite strong marketing, the game witnessed weak pre-order sales, however, the game became a massive hit upon release, earning several awards, including Game of the Year and Best Shooter awards by several gaming publications. An action-packed live adaptation of this video game would be a massive hit among fans of the action genre.

3)Bully(2006)

Rockstar Games’Bullyis often labeled as one of the best Rockstar Games ever made. Thanks to its missions, narrative, character development, and soundtrack, the game became quite popular among gamers. With a movie/TV show focused on the game’s protagonist James “Jimmy” Hopkins, the studios would give fans a fresh iteration of the character.

4) Death Stranding (2019)

2019’sDeath Strandingreceived positive reviews for its voice acting, soundtrack, and visuals, however, there were some concerns over the game’s gameplay and story. The game was nominated for and won several awards, including Game of the Year. A live-action adaptation of the cataclysmic event which caused destructive creatures to begin roaming the Earth, with the right actors, would be a massive hit.

5)Watch Dogs 2(2016)

The first game in theWatch Dogsfranchise lacked some elements but the second game,Watch Dogs 2fixed all those things. Upon release, the game received positive reviews for its hacking, setting, characters, and driving controls. Some technical issues slowed down the game, but it still managed to sell more than 10 million copies. A movie/TV show based on the game would be a massive hit among the fans if executed properly.
