The recent announcement forRed Dead Redemptionhas not sat well with fans. Rockstar confirmed that the game would be available for Nintendo Switch and ‘modern’ PlayStation systems. That means PlayStation 4 for those who weren’t aware.

Rockstar further disappointed fans by confirming that there would be no remake or remaster of the title. Which means the game is just a straight port of a 13 year old title, which isn’t even available for current gen consoles.
And it was the recent posting of fan-madeRed Dead Redemptionimage that really sunk the boot into Rockstar further. The image of John Marston shows what we could have seen from a remastered game.

After months of speculation that there would be a remaster of the critically acclaimed 2010 title, Rockstar shattered the hopes and dreams of many with what was seen as a ‘lacklustre’ announcement. But they sunk the boot in further by stating that the ported title would cost $50. Full price for a 13 year old game that is a straight port. Just let that sink in.
No mention of the game being made available for PC either after years of gamers crying out for the title. Nor Xbox, but given that the game is backward compatible it may be seen that the game is readily available. But the new features that Rockstar announced for the ported game – enhanced images and improved gameplay wouldn’t then be available to Xbox players?

It’s no wonder that Rockstar’s reputation has went downhill in recent years if this is the way they are treating fans. For many it will no doubt feel like a slap in the face and it will be interesting to see the volume of sales forRed Dead Redemptionfollowing it’s release on 17 August.

“I didn’t wanna get my expectations high… but man I really wanted this”

This fan-made image shows what we could have seen with aRed Dead RedemptionremasterAnd what may be quite telling is the fact that Rockstar haven’t made any mention to fan reception since the announcement. Which certainly didn’t go unnoticed by fans;
“They probably saw all of the reactions from yesterday as it is when it was first announced.”
“That just goes to show you that they don’t care about the backlash as long as they have money they can care less.”
