In Fields of Mistria, you are assisted on your adventures by Caldarus, a dragon who bestows skills upon you in return for essence. You accidentally come into contact with him after repairing his statue and grow familiar with him as you venture deeper into the Mines.
With the March 2024 update to the game, the story has progressed significantly, and Caldarus is now able to take human form. As the game features a romance system, Caldarus’ increasing fondness for you sparks questions about the possibility of winning the dragon’s heart.
How to Unlock Caldarus’ Human Form in Fields of Mistria?
Caldarus is an ancient being who slumbers until you unintentionally make a pact with him by repairing his statue. He helps you level up your skills as you descend deeper into the mines. It is implied that the dragon is adversely affected by the three seals in the Mines.
Caldarus takes on a human form and teleports to aid you after you open theFire Sealon floor 60. He grants the Dragon’s Breath spell and asks you to meet him in his temple in theDeep Woods.
How to Romance Caldarus in Fields of Mistria?
Head north of The Eastern Road and clear the vine barrier to the Deep Woods using the Dragon’s Breath spell. Then travel to the upper right side of the new area to meet Caldarus in his temple. The dragon will be in his human form, recovering his strength.
Caldarus will already have a yellow heart next to his portrait, meaning that he feels close to you. You can use the Dragon Statue on your farm to teleport to Caldarus’ temple. When you do so, he says that he cannot teleport to your farm through it but hopes you will visit him from time to time. Similar to other romanceable NPCs in the game, you can give gifts to Caldarus that he either loves, likes, dislikes, or hates.
Caldarus’s Gift Preferences
You can’t go wrong with gifting Caldarus food as he seems to enjoy a variety of cuisine. His hate for the statue of an unknown dragon hints at an unpleasant history between the two. Although you can give gifts to Caldarus, your points with him will not increase past a yellow heart.
To progress your relationship with him further, you will have to wait for the next major update to the game. you’re able to invite Caldarus to be your date to the Shooting Star Festival if you interact with him while holding a Star Brooch. He also has a special cutscene for the festival.
