English actor, Freddie Boath became prominently known for his portrayal of Alex O’Connell, son ofBrendan Fraser‘s character inThe Mummy Returns(2001).

As per IMDB, the then-young actor was offered to play the role in theHarry Potterfranchise. Despite the lucrative offer to be a child wizard that could have given him a promising career ahead, he chose to reject the role and starred alongside Fraser in the 2001 film.

While he was offered to be a part of the big franchise, Boath was already filming the second installment of Stephen Sommers’sThe Mummysaga. He explained,

It was reported that the young actor was an avid fan of the adventure-horror saga and watched the 1999 film,The Mummyover 30 times. His love for the movie was the main reason which affected his decision to reject the Daniel Radcliffe-led film series.

The outlet reported that Boath was quite accustomed to the film that he seemingly served as a consultant for the cast and crew. His love for the film was so much that he even knew the lines and specific details of the first film. Being his first professional acting job, he justified it by sharing every single thing one would ask regarding the first movie.

Not just on set, the actor even delivered an exemplary performance on the screen and was nominated for Saturn and Young Artist Awards. Meanwhile, the franchise garnered mixed critics for the trilogy.
