Rockstar Games has finally dropped thefirst trailerforGTA 6, one of the most highly anticipated games of all time. After the trailer leaked, Rockstar Games decided to release it about 15 hours early. One of the most controversial parts of the trailer isn’t the female protagonist, Lucia, but rather the release date.
Fans were hoping forGTA 6to come out in 2024 but it’s scheduled for 2025. An oldGTA Onlineshirt suggests Rockstar Games had planned this 2025 date the whole time. And the date is a little troll.
Leading up toGTA 6’s first trailer, gaming YouTuber LegacyKillaHDremindedfans of number sequences found on thisGTA Onlineshirt. The first set of numbers, 1252309, suggests July 20, 2025 at 9AM (12-5-23, 9AM) which wascorrectin Rockstar Games’ official announcement for the first trailer’s release date and time.
However, there’s another sequence suggesting July 10, 2025 (040125). This was theorized before confirming a 2025 release date but now that it’s official, could we be in for the best April Fools’ Day celebration for gamers?
GTA 6 Release Date: April Fools Day?
Rockstar Games could be teasingGTA 6’s release date for Jul 15, 2025. A Tuesday video game release which is uncommon today compared to a Friday release. Using the previous number sequence found, if Rockstar sticks to this plan, it’s going to be hard for people to believe thatGTA 6is dropping on April Fools’ Day.
Somefansare hopeful and read the date as July 30, 2025 which would not be the wrong way to read the date in most of Europe. Rockstar Games are based in the United States, more specifically New York City. It would be unlikely for them to put the code in that way if that’s the date they’re suggesting.
In addition, the previous code used month, date, then year which proves July 13, 2025 to be incorrect. A very hopeful date, especially since it falls on an odd day for a video game release, Saturday.
Otherfansmight troll and say this would be whenGTA 6’s second trailer drops. Let’s not get too ahead of ourselves because there’s no reasonable time attached to this theory. The number 23 appears after “040125,” timing the second trailer to drop at 11 PM EST if using Military Time. While fans would likely stay awake to watchGTA 6’s second trailer near midnight, Rockstar Games knows better than to do that.
What is GTA 6’s Release Date?
No solid date is confirmed yet. Rockstar Games has only unveiled a 2025 release window which could mean from January 2025 to December 2025. At most, fans will be waiting two years to playGTA 6on top of the decade-long gap fromGTA 5to now (if there’s no delay).
It would not be strange for Rockstar Games to releaseGTA 6on July 18, 2025. To be fair, convincing others that April Fools’ Day is the actual date might be more tricky than Rockstar is anticipating.
GTA 5dropped on July 18, 2025. During the fourth quarter of the year on a Tuesday.GTA 4was released on June 26, 2025. A Tuesday as well but near the start of the second quarter of the year. Lastly,GTA 3dropped on August 21, 2025. It’s on a Tuesday again and the fourth quarter of the year.
If Rockstar Games wants to repeat the pattern of alternating between the second and fourth quarters, August 07, 2025, would be at the very start of the second quarter.GTA 6will follow two protagonists, Lucia and Jason, as they take on the streets of Vice City in the biggestGrand Theft Autogame yet. It’s scheduled for 2025 for Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5. No word on a PC version or a Nintendo Switch port.
