Two weeks ago, the buddy action comedyRush Hourcelebrated its 25th anniversary. The firstRush Hourstarring Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker was released in 1998. Brett Ratner’s comedy was an instant hit and became a classic.

The movie made room for more sequels forming a huge franchise. Celebrating the 25th anniversary of the iconic action comedy, Tucker reflected on his experiences on set with legendary Chan.

Chris Tucker Joked On Jackie Chan’s Humble Nature

Actor/comedianChris Tuckerdoesn’t shy away from making a moment of comedy wherever he shows up. Appearing onLate Night with Seth Meyerswhile celebrating the 25th anniversary of the first installment of theRush Hourfranchise, he candidly joked about his co-starJackie Chan’shumble nature.

“I was so excited, man because I knew that I could put my comedy with Jackie Chan’s martial arts, and it would be fantastic. But it’s the 25th anniversary of the first Rush Hour. And, man, it don’t – It seem a long time ago, but Jackie was so kind and so nice. He would give me a gift every day on the first Rush Hour set. He would send me over a gift, a different gift. I said, ‘Man, what is this? Part of his culture?’ He’s so nice. Then I realized he’s from China. They make everything over there, he’s getting it for free anyway,”Tucker joked.

Further, the actor said,“He wasn’t paying for nothing.”However, Tucker also joked about himself, at least his financial status relating to the events at the set of the firstRush Hour.“He’s looking out the window, like, ‘Look at Chris Tucker. He gonna go broke trying to keep up with me,’”he added. For Tucker, his role in the film would remain one of his career-best performances sharing astonishing chemistry with Chan.

Chris Tucker Had Fun With Jackie Chan In China

Tucker will never forget his time with Chan in China. His son Destin Christopher Tucker was studying Mandarin in high school and he wanted to go to China.“I couldn’t back out of, he so you know Jackie Chan daddy we got to go,”Tucker said appearing onTheLate Late Show with James Corden.“So, with all that Jackie took care of us we went to a different restaurant every night,”he continued.

“He’s the man, Jackie owns everything he’s like ‘You like hotel?’ he said, ‘You like hotel?’ I say, ‘Yeah.’ ‘It’s my hotel that’s my hotel.’ No, I got to do more movies, yeah and then he was like ‘Why are you over here?’ So, ‘I came to see you what do you think I’m here for? You are the only person I know in China.’”

Tucker further revealed that Chan“walks around with like 15 people”and he was behind all of them, at times he had to shout when Chan would reply hurry up. But Tucker admitted that he had fun with hisRush Hourco-star to the fullest.
