The Cecil B. DeMille Award-winning actor was previously married to Talia Balsam, but he waited more than 20 years before giving it another shot. He is among the most recognizable figures in Hollywood, thanks to his charisma, attractiveness, and extraordinary talent. The actor, however, was adamant about never getting married, which ultimately generated a lot of media attention and led to a fascinating bet with none other than Michelle Pfeiffer.
In fact, Clooney was so opposed to marriage that he bet his formerOne Fine Dayco-star Michelle Pfeiffer that he would never marry again. He did, however, lose hundreds of thousands of dollars on a bet with the actress.

George Clooney Bet Michelle Pfeiffer That He Would Never Marry Again
George Clooney might be the most eligible bachelor in the world, before getting married once again after his divorce from Talia Balsam. But not all of his Hollywood pals have that same outlook on him.
HisOne Fine Dayco-star,Michelle Pfeiffer, revealed that theOut of Sightactor has increased a long-standing bet that he would one day find a good girl and settle down.The initial bet was made with a stake of“$100”.But Clooney has gradually raised the stakes as he became more determined to remain single. In a previous interview, Pfeiffer, 63, disclosed to Jonathan Ross (perIndependent Times):
“I bet him he would get married and he keeps inflating the bet, from $100 to $100,000. I still think he will, he’s a handsome devil.”
Clooney brought up the bet during an earlier interview with Pfeiffer forVariety:
“You bet me. Remember the bet?”
Pfeiffer asked about it and replied:
“You’re having to eat your words now aren’t you?”
Clooney apologized after humbly admitting his mistake, replying:
“I’m eating these words.”

He Married Amal Clooney When He Was 53 Years Old
George Clooneyfinally married Lebanese and British barristerAmal Clooneyin 2014 at the age of 53. The two met when a friend of Clooney’s brought her to his home in Lake Como. The former once toldThe Howard Stern Show:
“I was in Lake Como, single, and a friend of mine said, ‘Is it ok if I bring my friend over, I’m on my way to the Cannes Film Festival, can I bring my friend over?’ And my mom and dad were staying with me in Como at the time, and a couple of other friends. And I was like, ‘Sure, bring her over.’”
Clooney was immediately attracted to his wife, but they maintained a platonic relationship for some time:
“In walks Amal, and she’s stunning and funny and the smartest person in every room she walks into. And I was really taken with her. … We stayed up all night and talked, but we didn’t date. We just started writing each other, and I wrote her for, I don’t know, a few months.”
Ironically, his concern that he was too old for his younger wife was a major factor in his reluctance to develop romantic feelings for her:
“Well, I liked her, but I didn’t want to jump the shark on it, I couldn’t tell if she liked me because I’m 17 years older than her. So she might have thought I was grandpa, I don’t know.”
The fact that the Golden Globe Awards-winning actor has been happily married for almost nine years and has two children makes it clear that he will have to retract his bet. In terms of work, Clooney recently reprised his role as Bruce Wayne / Batman in a cameo appearance inThe Flash.
