How to Watch Peacock TV Outside US on Android TV

NBC’s new streaming app – Peacock launched last week in the US with thousands of hours of free movies and TV shows. And while there are workarounds to bypass this geo-restrictions onAndroid, iOS, and Web, things aren’t that easy for the Android TV – even with a VPN. But, fret not, we found a workaround.

Watch PeacockTV Outside US on Android TV

The usual way to watch any geo-restricted streaming app on Android TV includes sideloading the apk and then streaming it with a VPN. However, in our testing, thePeacock TV appwas able to detect our location from the Play Store, even with the VPN running. An easy way to bypass this problem is by casting Peacock TV from your computer browser. You don’t even have to install any app on your Android TV. Here’s how.

Cast to TV

Before we begin, make sure your Android TV has a chromecast build in. Pretty much all Android TVs do. Also, you need a decent Wi-Fi network to cast Peacock TV from your computer or smartphone to Android TV. And finally, you will need a computer or a smartphone with the latest version of the chrome browser installed.

Once you have met all the requirements, go to your computer andinstall a good VPNif you don’t have that already. In my case, I am again usingPureVPNon my Windows PC. Since Peacock TV is only available in the United States, we would have to connect to a United States server.

Once you are in the Peacock TV interface, play the movie or TV show that you would like to see on the bigger screen. Once the show starts playing, hit the 3-dots on the top-right corner of the Google Chrome browser. From the extended menu, click on “Cast”. Make sure your computer and Chromecast device are on the same Wi-Fi network.

Once you click on Cast, Google Chrome will look for casting devices in your Wi-Fi network. In our case, we should be looking for an Android TV.

And that’s it. You will have Google Chrome casting video to your Android TV. In case the video quality is blurry, pause the video and wait for some time in order for the connection to get stable. When your tab is being shown on a TV, you’ll see “” on the extreme right side of the browser tab.

By default, Google Chrome only casts the media streaming tab to your Android TV. Hence, you can continue working on other tabs on your screen. The only caveat is you will have to keep your laptop up and running while casting on Android TV. Windows will switch off the video playback in case you lock your laptop.

Once you are done, click on the same Cast option and click on the casting device name to stop casting.

Alternatively

You can also watch Peacock TV on an Android TV web browser. Having said that, it’s not that straight forward. Peacock TV won’t work on the Puffin TV browser which is customized for Android TV.
