In an appearance onThe Diary Of A CEO with Steven Bartlett, the 55-year-old actor,Terry Crewstalked about how his addiction was his temporary escape.

He shared,
“Drinking is a way of numbing your pain – for me it was prnography. Prnography numbed my pain. I’ve never been drunk or high but p*rn was something that took me out.”

He revealed that his addiction seemed to have stemmed when he wanted an escape from the disturbing time during his childhood.
“I first discovered it at about nine or ten years old, I was at my uncle’s house and he had a chest full of it. You never find it as an adult. I don’t know anyone who only found p*rn as an adult. You always find it as a child.”

He admitted that it was his only escape that would make him ‘numb’ to his problems. However, this cycle continued as he further shared how he would even use it to reward himself.

Crews further admitted that his addiction started to drown him as he would binge-watch adult content for hours despite knowing it was wrong.
“If I got a day off from a set and I could watch p*rn from 10am to 11pm at night. And I wouldn’t stop. I couldn’t stop. It was a splurge. I knew I had a problem, but when you tell yourself that you will stop, you just go right back.”
He accepted feeling guilty for what he did at the time as he continued,
“With guilt comes shame, and shame says ‘you are bad, this is who you are’. So you’d do a bunch of good things for a few days and you feel you need a reward. What’s the reward? P*rn. And the cycle starts all over again.”
His guilty addiction came to a certain point when his marital life was put in danger as he cheated on his wife, Rebecca King. As he asserted, she was suspicious of him which pushed them apart but eventually, he realized his mistake. He had gone through a turbulent childhood due to his alcoholic father, who was abusive which heavily impacted the actor.
