Dave Bautista already denied playing Bane in the DCU. After seeing the upcoming DC Universe slate, James Gunn and Peter Safran have proven to the fans that their favorite superheroes are possibly in safe hands. The future of the franchise will explore areas that have previously been limited to only comic books and kick off an entirely new era for superheroes.

The franchise is set to introduce many new characters and explore already renowned and mainstream heroes. It will look into other versions of these heroes and elaborate on how similar they look but different they think. The slate has been well received so far and by the looks of it, it even caught Dave Bautista’s eye before the slate was even announced.

Dave Bautista Expresses Interest In Playing Lex Luthor
Dave Bautistahas been very open about his eagerness to portray Bane in the DCU. He believes that he can very accurately bring the character to life. Now that the slate is out, there is a chance that perhaps Bane has a long way from getting his chance. However, an idea that did interest the actor was himself as Lex Luthor.
“I just never thought about playing that character. As soon as I saw that picture of myself next to Lex Luthor I was like, ‘Man, that’s really interesting,'” he added. “It’s interesting to me. I’d be totally up for that, James Gunn.”

Side by side being compared to the character put Bautista in a state of thought. He admitted to having never thought of doing that but, the moment the idea came across to him, he was immediately intrigued by it. The actor was so attracted by the idea that he is already ready to jump into the role if the opportunity were to ever present itself.

The Future Of The DCU Could See Dave Bautista’s Lex Luthor
James Gunn has hinted previously about his wanting to work with hisGuardians of the Galaxycast again. Furthermore, he and Dave Bautista have been friends for a very long time and have had each other’s backs whenever they need help. The announcement of the DCU slate has already given out the idea that Lex Luthor could be finding his place in the franchise soon.
Unlike before, actors are not limited to working in one franchise and can have roles in multiple superhero movies. Bautista can also take up the role of Lex Luthor. He has already proven hope great of an actor he is and that he will never shy away from exploring other characters to display his talent. So perhaps he could become the infamous Lex Luthor.
