Jodie Turner-Smith has officially confirmed that she will be joining the cast of the popular Netflix seriesSex Educationfor its upcoming fourth season. The announcement was made by the actor herself on the red carpet at the BAFTA Film Awards in London.

According to Jodie Turner-Smith, it wasNcuti Gatwa, who plays the character of Eric Effiong on the show, who convinced her to join the cast. She expressed her excitement to work with Gatwa, who is her favorite character on the show. The actor revealed that Gatwa personally called her and asked her to join the show, and she agreed to take the role even before discussing the payment. She said,

“You may or may not see me in a little Netflix show called Sex Education. First of all, all my scenes were with Ncuti Gatwa who – I DIE for him – and he’s my favorite character on the show. So when he called me and asked me to do it I was like, I don’t care how much they’re paying I’m doing.”

“Season 5? I just got my fourth last week! No, I don’t think it’s in Season 5. I said goodbye to Maeve.”
