The $15.7 million movie has been remarkable for the actor as it has changed the course of his career and made him what he is today.“I did a small part in Out of the Furnace,”Holbrook toldIMDB.
“And I’m like uhh- a tattooed guy. And Christian Bale was on the set and by the end of it, uhh, Christian offered me to come work in a Terrence Malick film. It was meet one of your heroes, for someone to do something like that I felt like I was in the club and it just gave me a freedom. It was just a moment for me that extremely humbled me and made and truly just inspired me,”Holbrook added.

Malick has been one of the greatest filmmakers of the present era, his movies are masterful, pure artistic gems with the ability to transform the audience into a different world with a unique way of storytelling. And for Holbrook, it was no less than a blessing.

Boyd Holbrook Was Cast in Terrence Malick’s Song to Song
With Bale’s generous invitation, Holbrook got a role in Malick’s 2017 romance dramaSong to Song. It was a different experience as the director is known for his uniqueness and his spectacular vision for his narratives.“He’s very elusive and mystical, and all that stuff,”Holbrook toldColliderabout his experience of working with Malick.“I don’t know if I’ll be in the movie. I think I’m in it, but I don’t know for how much. He has a very different approach and he makes very specific films,”he continued. It was great to work with“Terrence and Christian [Bale].”
“It was cool because I was playing a much different character in that film compared to what you’re seeing in Narcos or what you’ll see in Terrence Malick’s movie. I played Natalie Portman’s brother in Terrence Malick’s movie, and then basically tried to kill her husband in Jane Got a Gun. That was obviously different. I was playing a big creepy. And Gavin O’Connor is an amazing director.”

Holbrook’s inspiration strengthened, although his character was cut in the final edit. The movie has definitely taught him a great deal. Also, working with an ensemble and experienced cast was a different feeling for the actor. Eventually, he rose to prominence and continued to appear in bid movies and shows working with industry prominent directors.
