Jackson’s character.

Discussing how he was warned to not read the comics, Selim confessed to going against Marvel Studios’ instructions. “The first thing I was told is don’t read the comics” the director stated.

Sitting for an interview withUproxx, to discuss the MCU adaptation,Secret Invasion,Ali Selimstated, that he was clearly forbidden from reading the original comics. Thus, admitting going againstKevin Feige, Selim mentioned reading Brian Michael Bendis and Leinil Francis Yu’s original comics prior to shooting. “I didn’t say I didn’t read it… I said I was told not to read it,” Selim stated.

Further giving his reasons for disregarding Marvel’s instructions, Ali Selim stated, “I like to stay informed.” However, after reading the comics he realized why he was asked to stay away from them. “And then I can come to the end of it and say, ‘Oh, I see. That’s why they didn’t want me to read it.’” Selim stated.
