Bernthal shared in an interview he was once attacked by a criminal when he was shooting for a project. The actor shared that he was shocked by the sudden blow, and the criminal’s reaction after the scene was unexpected.

Jon Bernthal was assaulted By a Real Criminal While Filming
The actor shared in an interview about the time when he was playing the role of a Baltimore corrupt cop in the seriesWe Own The City. The actor shared a bizarre incident when he was shooting a fight scene.The Wolf of Wall Streetactor shared that he was shooting with his team when suddenly a guy with dreadlocks charged toward him. He shared that he knew all his guys by name, and it was a new face. Before he could get a chance to comprehend the situation, the guy flung his right hand towards him. Bernthal saved his face in the nick of time, but he charged back with double force.
The actor recalled,
“I have done this 20 times, I know all these guys by their names. And now this guy is running at me with fcking dreadlocks. I am thinking who is this fcking clown? And he reaches back like this guy was gonna hit me, and sure enough, he just throws a f*cking right hand, right at my head. In the last second, I blocked it with my riot shield. But it hit my face and I felt cut my face. And I was like if he is gonna take a swing at me, then I am gonna take a swing at him. I just hit him in his eye, and he fell down.”

Jon Bernthal was shocked by the criminal’s reaction to being punched
In the interview, the actor said he was stunned by the sudden blow on his face. Hence,Jon Bernthalretaliated with a strong punch, which made the guy fall. However, the best was yet to come as the guy rose and hugged him.
He recalled,
“After we finished the scene, I was looking around to understand what had happened. He was bleeding profusely from his eye, and he came up to me and gave me a fcking hug. He said, ‘Yo dog… You are a real one man.’ Then he looked towards his right, there were three real Baltimore police officers and he ran away. He just happened to be running by, and he was like, ‘I am gonna knock that motherfcker out on TV.’ That’s Baltimore, The hug he gave me was that he showed me respect.”
