The Color Purplewas based on the critically acclaimed 1982 novel of the same name by Alice Walker. The depiction of the problems suffered by African-American women during the early 20th Century in the movie was much appreciated. In an interview with Luce Cinecitta, the Queen of Rock ‘n’ Roll admitted how the movie reminded her of her past life and relationship with Ike Turner. TheMad Max Beyond Thunderdomeactress was sadly in an abusive relationship with her former husband Ike Turner. It forced her to say “no” to the project.

“I’m trying to forget the past because it’s done. It’s over. I finished that part of my life, and I’m not going to do a part that will remind me of what I’ve lived already. I think Steve understood that I couldn’t do it for that reason, finally, after I really expressed what it was.”

Although the late singer didn’t speak about which role she was offered bySteven Spielberg, Trusted sources stated that it was the role of Shrug Avery. Later during the trailer-launch event of the upcoming remake, the Sofia actress Oprah Winfrey corroborated the reports by saying.
