Prior to the filming of the 2016 adventure film, Hunnam wrapped up the shooting ofKing Arthur. To portray King Arthur, thePacific Rimstar had to follow an intense workout and diet. He developed muscles and was 185 LBS by the time he started filming forThe Lost City of Z.

However, theCold Mountainstar was too ripped for his role in the James Gray Film. Talking about the film Charlie Hunnam said, “I was in a costume fitting and I took my shirt off and revealed my physique, and he started to cry.”

TheCrimson Peakstar shared that he knew those were not tears of joy. Looking at Hunnam, James Grey told him that Hunnam just ruined his film as he needed a victorian gentleman for the film, not a pugilist.

After shocking the American filmmaker, Charlie Hunnam assured him that he would transform himself in ten days. The actor then decided not to eat anything for 10 days and lost 10 pounds in those 10 days.

“I said don’t worry I got 10 days. So I didn’t eat anything for 10 days and I lost 10 pounds. So I was already down to 175.”After this, theTriple Frontierwent on to lose 35 pounds more while filming. He revealed that he was only consuming between 400-500 calories a day.

“We were starving, and it was incredibly humid and hot, so we didn’t have to imagine too much of the hardship those guys were enduring,” said Hunnam

However, he was not the only actor who went through an extreme weight loss for the 2016 film. His co-starRobert Pattinsonalso had to lose 45 pounds for his role.

Charlie Hunnam Says He Can’t Do it Again

After losing around 45 pounds forThe Lost City of Z,thePapillonstar once again lost 30 pounds for his role in the 2017 film. He shared that it was an interesting experience. However, the actor has made it clear that he is not ready to go through such a transformation again.

He said, “I can’t do it again. I’m not gonna lose weight like that again.”He then shared that right after he finishedPapillon, he was offered the lead in a film based on the IRA Hunger Strikes. He was then told that he has to lose weight for the film.

He said that even though he wanted to do that film, he couldn’t agree to it. Charlie Hunnam also shared that he lost a number of films due to this reason. He recently starred in the television seriesShantaramand is set to appear in Zack Snyder’sRebel Moon.
