BothRobert Downey Jr.and Sarah Jessica Parker are widely acclaimed actors in Hollywood, known for landing their roles in super hit movies and TV series as well for being one of the most talked about power couples in Hollywood. However, after being together for nearly seven years until 1991, the pair decided to split up, the reasoning behind being Downey Jr.’s drug addiction.
A few years after splitting up with the Oscar-winner, Sarah Jessica Parker got the offer of starring in the rom-com TV showSex and the Cityas the female protagonist, Carrie Bradshaw. Although accepting the offer, Parker refused to strip naked and film nude scenes for the series. In an interview, the Golden Globe winner said,
“The only thing … I was concerned about was that I just didn’t feel comfortable doing nudity. I suspected that if it wasn’t in the pilot, it would be a part of a series.”
Sarah Jessica Parkeralso mentioned how she felt‘too shy’and‘uncomfortable’about exposing herself that way, adding how her decision wasn’t really a‘morality thing’.

TheSex and the CityProducer Advised Sarah Jessica Parker ‘Not to do it’
While the Emmy-winning actress felt unease about shooting nude scenes for the seriesSex and the City,the show’s creator did not seem to mind it much. Hearing Sarah Jessica Parker express reluctance, the TV series producer Darren Star told the actress to‘not do it if she didn’t want to’.As claimed by Parker,
“He said … ‘We’ll have other actors. If they feel comfortable doing it, they’ll do it, but you do not have to,’”
Even though Sarah Jessica Parker didn’t feel comfortable doing it herself, she also added how she neither minded nor judged anyone else shooting the nude scenes, obviously referring to her co-stars in the series. Her co-actresses too admitted that they were fine with their parts. The TV showSex and the Citystarted airing in 1998 and continued till 2004, completing six seasons of series.
