Jackie Chan is undeniably a legendary actor. His outstanding martial arts skills have made him a global sensation that earned him recognition as one of history’s most iconic and prolific actors. He has always been fearless when it comes to stunts — as he has treated all his injuries as part of the job.

During the process, he has broken his fingers, nose, ankles, tailbones, and even his hip. His shoulders have been dislocated multiple times, and he’s endured several concussions and spinal injuries, too.
Yet out of all these injuries, there’s one severe incident that left a lasting mark on his body, which he can still feel to date. But before getting into that, let’s know what was the first movie stunt where Chan felt a genuine fear.

Jackie Chan’s First Intense Stunt That Gave Him Chills
Jackie Chanhas overcome the most cruel upbringing by defying several near-death experiences. While doing so, he had broken countless bones, but the good part is he never quit and continued to do his own stunts.
It shows the courage of the star. It didn’t come after he became a martial arts master, an experienced veteran performer and stunt worker, and a proven successful lead in the Hong Kong movie industry.

But he holds that courage since the very start, which can be seen in his role as overzealous police officer Ka-Kui Chan — chasing a gang of criminals who hijacked a bus, and then grabs a pink umbrella from a passerby, and shows what he actually is.
In this jaw-dropping scene, Chan uses the crooked umbrella to hook himself onto the back of the bus. He gets dragged behind it for a bit (sliding on his shoe soles) and he then climbs up to take control.

But it’s no cakewalk. He struggles, almost falling off. It’s definitely a dangerous take that scared even the performer himself. During an interview, Chan spoke about this bold stunt for the 1985 moviePolice Story. He admitted in a video onIGN,“I’m scared. I’m really scared. I’m ordinary person, I’m not a Superman.”
But the actor didn’t give up and still completed the stunt. This was the first movie of Chan, which contained large-scale action scenes in which Chan was genuinely worried (obviously, it was just the starting). But besides this, there’s a scene that still impacts him.

A Stunt Scene From the Movie That Still Impacts Jackie Chan
In a 2015 interview, theRush Hourstar said that he suffered a severe injury while performing a stunt for the movieArmour of God II. He clarified that the stunt was simply a jump from a slope (but it had an intense impact on him). Chan toldParade:
“The most serious injury I had was during the shooting of ‘Armour of God II.’ It was actually just a simple stunt, jumping from a slope. But I was seriously injured and had a surgery to my brain. I still have a metal plate in my head and can feel the indentation from the impact.”
After the injury caused by this stunt, Chan had to have a metal plate surgically inserted into his skull — leaving a permanent quarter-sized indentation.
Despite this, he continues to work without showing any strain. He has been in over 150 films, which made more than $5 billion at the global box office. Up to the age of 69 years, he still has movies lined up through 2024 and beyond.
