Stating how larger production studios were simply turning into money mongers rather than telling stories, the actress discussed taking her own initiative. Trying to appeal to a larger audience, Jennifer Lawrence explained, “It’s not like Drew Barrymore’s Flower Films”.
Upon being asked about her production company’s interest, the actress simply stated, “Well, that’s hard to answer, because if I answer honestly, I’m out of a job. I mean, haven’t we had enough stories about white women?” Thus, discussing her urge to portray diversity, Jennifer Lawrence mentioned narrating those stories that she was unable to play.
