Universal Studios has been hard at work adapting Robert Kirkman’s hit superhero comic book,Invincible, which is also streaming as a critically acclaimed animated series on Amazon Prime. This would not be Kirkman’s first foray into live-action adaptations, as his other big franchise, has already grown to be a multimedia saga of zombies and drama.

Steven Yeun as Mark Grayson in a still from Invincible

Given how perfectly the show is cast, it is difficult to imagine anyone else playing the character from the superhero property. However, considering that Universal’s offering would want to be distinct from the streaming show, here are 7 actors who we think are perfect to play various characters in the film.

London Thor as Jordon Li in Gen V

London Thor as Dupli-Kate

London Thor has been one of the breakout stars ofThe Boysspin-offGen V, following a group of young supers navigating high school. Thor played the bigender student Jordan Li, who was involved in quite a number of action sequences in the show. Having her take up the role of Dupli-Kate would bring the right physicality and personality to the character, while also maintaining the character’s maturity.

Mark Wahlberg as The Immortal

Given Wahlberg’s amazing physique and aged look, the character would be perfect to play the Pictish warrior turned immortal superhero, The Immortal. Probably the third strongest superhero on earth after Mark and Nolan, The Immortal needs to bring a level of anger and humour to the role, a place that seems well suited for Mark Wahlberg.

Mark Wahlberg

Dave Bautista as The Mauler Twins

The Mauler Twins are large threats in the world of Invincible. But they are also a comedic duo who are constantly bickering in a very Drax-like manner. Bautista has already proven he has the physicality for the role. However, the Maulers are also terribly smart and crafty, a trait that Bautista has also shown himself capable of playing in films like Army of the Dead, Spectre and The Glass Onion.

Stephen Lang as Cecil

Colonel Quaritch in a suit is an apt description for Cecil Stedman, albeit a little more diplomatic. Who better to play the man than Stephen Lang himself? Lang has distinguished himself in the Avatar franchise. Cecil Stedman is a character that is going to require the ability to stand up the mammoth figures like Omni-Man and the Immortal. Lang could bring that level of authority to the character, but also the tenderness that comes with the quiet moments in the story. If not Cecil Stedman, the actor, should the story go so far, would be a mean pick for Conquest too.

Dave Bautista’s Drax

Henry Cavill as Thragg

Any actor who is cast in the role of the Vitrumites must be able to pull off a moustache. Henry Cavill not only brings a very Viltrumite physique to the table but also provides for very ironic casting. Having played Superman himself, switching to play a General Zod stand-in might give the actor and the fans a kick alike. Further, Henry Cavill could pull cold and calculating well, as shown by his character in theMission Impossiblefranchise.

Chris Evans as Omni-Man

Speaking of glorious moustaches, Chris Evans could do the character of Nolan Grayson justice. Having played a paragon character like Captain America, Evans would enjoy the challenge of playing a more complex character with a complete arc in a different superhero setting. Given that Evans is a gifted actor and has already played a goody two shoes, it would be much easier for him to play the part of a hero who is secretly a villain.

Derek Luh as Invincible

Playing the male version of the bigender Jordan Li, Luh has developed quite the experience of being invincible. Fans have also taken to social media to voice their support for this casting, saying that the character might be in the best hands with theGen Valum, given that he can betray the 17-year-old under a lot of grit and pain, as is often the case inThe Boysuniverse
