When the news broke about Angelina Jolie getting a divorce from Brad Pitt in 2016, many rumors surfaced about the possible reasons why the power couple suddenly wanted to break all ties. And one such gossip included Marion Cotillard as one cause behind the Brangelina split.
Rumors have it that Marion Cotillard was having an affair with Brad Pitt during the shoot of their $119M movieAllied(2016). The actress, however, was quick to deny all such allegations saying she had‘never slept with Brad Pitt’.

After the release of the movieAlliedin 2016, several rumors surfaced claiming thatMarion Cotillardwas allegedly datingBrad Pitt, who was also her co-actor in the movie. While Pitt played the role of Max Vatan, Cotillard starred opposite him as his wife, Marianne Beausejour.
Marion Cotillard, however, did not keep quiet about the allegations and blatantly refused to all such gossip. In an interview with TODAY, when the actress was asked about the rumors of her affair with Brad Pitt that she denied, she responded by saying,
“I never take anything personally when it doesn’t concern me, and so I didn’t take it personally because I had, you know, just, nothing to do with this rumor or situation.”
Furthermore, the actress even said that she didn’t allow these rumors to affect her experience in making the movie, saying,
“I don’t give energy to… to this. And it was a wonderful, wonderful experience, working with such a visionary director and an amazing actor, so that’s… all that matters, you know.”
And just like that, Marion Cotillard once again slammed all such rumors, claiming she had‘nothing to do with it’– neither the Brangelina split nor the gossip of her having a secret affair with Brad Pitt.

Angelina Jolie Filed for Divorce After Rumors of Marion Cotillard With Brad Pitt Surfaced
Even though Marion Cotillard had cleared the air from her side about her alleged affair with Brad Pitt, it seems thatAngelina Joliewas not convinced. After the surfacing of these rumors, more gossip came up claiming that Jolie hired a private to investigate the matter as Pitt had seemingly grown ‘closer’ to hisAlliedco-actor during the movie shoots.
According to an anonymous source,
“She hired a private eye because she felt that he was fooling around with her on the set, and it turns out, he was. And that was the final straw.”
However, the couple themselves have strongly denied the presence of any ‘third person’ in their matter, with Jolie claiming the main reason behind their split was that she was ‘fed up’ with Pitt’s ‘drug consumption’ and ‘anger issues’.
Marion Cotillard too, when heard about the Brangelina divorce, is said to have been left ‘absolutely devastated’ to find out she had been ‘involved’ in the breakup. Cotillard is married to Guillaume Canet and has two children with him.
