Bryan Cranston is one of the most renowned actors of the current day and age, and theBreaking BadTV show is majorly responsible for the same. Playing the fan-favorite character of Walter White in the five-season-long series has given the American actor the edge in Hollywood that his previous movies and shows couldn’t.
But he was very close to not getting all that fame in his career as it never would’ve taken off had theBreaking Badcreator, Vince Gilligan, scrapped the idea for the series just because of another series the American screenwriter nearly did.

WhileBreaking Badbecame a TV series famous enough to spawn five seasons, with each season becoming a new fan-favorite, there was a time when the show’s creator,Vince Gilligan, almost scrapped the idea of the masterpiece just because of another similar series.
Sharing his horrific experience about finding out that another show existed out there about a pot-dealing suburban mother titledWeedswhile pitching his own show to a cable network, the screenwriter said,
“I could feel the blood drain from my face. I turned to [the co-producers of Sony Television] Zack [Van Amburg] and Jamie [Erlicht]. ‘Did you know aboutWeeds?’ ‘Oh, yeah,’ they said. ‘Great show. But your thing is completely different. She deals pot and your guy deals crystal meth. Apples and oranges.'”
He further went on to admit how he wouldn’t have the will to go on with the show had he found out earlier about this existing similar story series.
“If I had known of ‘Weeds’ weeks or even days prior to that meeting, it’s likely I wouldn’t have had the will to go on,” he wrote. “I would have said to myself (and I’ve said this a lot), ‘Damn! All the good ideas are already taken!'”
But thank God he didn’t, for if he had, fans wouldn’t have had the opportunity to watch such an amazing masterpiece led byBryan Cranstonin their entire life!

Although initially thought of as Showtime’sWeedsknockout,Breaking Badwent ahead to create a history of its own. From its first episode down to its last, the TV show was an absolute masterpiece, and no amount of arguments can change that.
The crime drama, which first came out in early 2008, circled around the story of Walter White, played by Bryan Cranston, a chemistry teacher who, when finds out that he has inoperable lung cancer, gets into the business of meth-making to pay his medical bills and secure his family’s future. Going further into the series, his priorities change over time as he partners with Jesse Pinkman, played byAaron Paul.
While theBreaking Badseries not only gave Cranston the much-needed boost that had his career take off, it also gained worldwide critical acclamation for its addictive storyline, making it so famous that it even spawned five seasons and is still one of the best go-to series for crime dramas.
