In just a few days,The Flash, another multiverse-spanning moviewill make its theatrical debut. The original screenwriters of the movie, Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, provided some information in a recent interview forSpider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.

Since its 2014 announcement,The Flashhas gone through a very difficult development cycle. Many writers had joined and left the project, but Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, who wrote a treatment for the project in 2015, were the most well-known of the potential writers.

At the time, not much was known aboutPhil LordandChris Miller‘s version ofThe Flash. And after their success withSpider-Man: Into the Spider-Verseand Christina Hodson, who createdBirds of Prey, joining to script the movie, their involvement was quickly forgotten. While the duo kept quiet about their endeavor, they did admit that they have a time travel narrative in mind. It appeared to be more gastronomic than multiversal, though.

“It did involve time travel, but it was not a multiversal story. So I think it is safe to say that this is its own unique thing,” says Miller, who has not seen the newFlash. “There are definitely some things that were in the trailers that I’ve seen that were similar to things that are in our treatment, but I’m certain that, from what I know now of the story, it seems quite different from what we had.”

“A lot of our treatment was about how much food he had to consume,” Lord added.

The Flashis directed by Andy Muschietti using a screenplay written by Christina Hodson. According to Writers Guild of America regulations, Lord and Miller are not given credit forThe Flash; the screenplay is credited to Hodson, and the screen story is credited to Daley & Goldstein and Joby Harold.

The FlashAlready Got A Lot Of Positive Reactions

For a while now,The Flashhas been one of the most eagerly awaited movies of the year.The Flashhas received overwhelmingly positive reviews from critics despite all of its flaws; one even dubbed it the “best superhero movie ever” after seeing it for the first time.

The Flashfrom DC Studios was screened at CinemaCon 2023, and reviewers have since offered their early thoughts on the film. The first thing to take note of is how highly everyone has rated Ezra Miller’s portrayal of Barry Allen.

Tom Cruise, a legendary figure in Hollywood, gushed about the movie after seeing it and declared that it was “everything you want in a movie,” making it “the kind of movie we need now.”

In addition to Ezra Miller, The Flash also features Michael Keaton and Ben Affleck as two separate versions of Batman, Ron Livingston as Henry Allen, Maribel Verdú as Nora Allen, Kiersey Clemons as Iris West, Michael Shannon as General Zod, Antje Traue as Faora-Ul and Sasha Calle as Supergirl. Saoirse-Monica Jackson, Rudy Mancuso, and Luke Brandon Field are also on board in undisclosed roles.
