While promoting his memoir,If You Would Have Told Me, John Stamos made an appearance on the Howard Stern Show and revealed details about their relationship and split.

John StamosandRebecca Romijnspent a decade of their lives together before their divorce in 2005. While the public viewed theX-Menactress’s rising popularity as the reason for their split, nothing else was revealed by the former couple. But now as Stamos is busy promoting his memoir, he appeared on Sirius XM’sThe Howard Stern Show(viaPeople) and talked about his split from the actress.
“I loved her and I thought she was super talented. So I was happy to do that. But I forgot about my own stuff. She was taking off and I just wasn’t paying attention to mine. And it wasn’t her fault.”
He then added how watching her grow and prioritize her career started making him feel emasculated.
“I mean, you know, you just get wrapped up in these things. I said ‘You know what? I’ve had enough fame, I’m okay. Let’s put the spotlight on her.’ And I loved watching it. I think that she outgrew me.”
TheBorn to Ridestar stated that he regrets not concentrating on his career and thinks his career would have been much different had he actually paid attention to things back then.

John Stamos Feels His Marriage With Rebecca Romijn Was Bound To Fail
While talking to Howard Stern, John Stamos accepted that he had an inkling that his marriage with Romijn could not have worked, but did acknowledge that he was at fault for not working harder to save it. While talking to People, theFull Housestar expressed how shattered he felt after their split.
“My first marriage was shattering to me. I was shattered for way too long, too. I mean, a year, okay, good. But it went on [for] years and years. In my mind back then, she was the Devil, and I just hated her. I couldn’t believe how much I hated her, and it ruined my life.”
However, he eventually recognized that even he was partly responsible for their split.
“You start thinking, it’s like, ‘Oh, she wasn’t the Devil. Maybe I was as much to blame as her.'”
Despite the heartbreak, both Stamos and Romijn have moved on and are happily married to their respective partners.
