IsCaptain MarvelThe Most Hated Film In The MCU?
There are plenty of heroes to root for and villains to love to hate in the Marvel comics, films, and TV shows, but some fans may not connect with certain characters. One such wasBrie Larson‘s Carol Danvers or Captain Marvel inCaptain Marvel.
But the real question is: Is there a Marvel character that is the most hated?
Well, even though Larson’s Captain Marvel made her MCU debut almost four years ago, a new data analysis has revealed thatCaptain Marvelis still widely regarded as the most hated Marvel film ever made.
The Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) has received a lot of online criticism from fans for things like its casting, LGBTQ+ characters and themes, race- and gender-swapping, etc. But no film has even come close to receiving the level of criticism that was directed at Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck’s film,Captain Marvel.
WhileCaptain Marvelwas generally well-received, many Marvel fans found it to be disappointing.
One Redditor said:
“I thought it was on the lower end of the Marvel movies, and I probably would have liked it more if they hadn’t hyped it up so much.”
Another argued:
“It was bad compared to some of the great Marvel films, like the Winter Soldier, and bad compared to what they said it would be.”
According to a recent analysis of online data using disparaging geotagged Twitter posts, hashtags, and phrases,Captain Marvelis the most hated MCU film in nearly half of the states in the United States.
The data divides the country into states and uses a sample of more than 120,000 tracked tweets to determine which Marvel movie received the most negative feedback in each state.Captain Marveltopped the list of hate in 23 states, far surpassing 2021’sEternalsandBlack Widowwith 7 and 6 states, respectively.
