Kojima axed superhero project because of similarities to The Boys
Hideo Kojima recently revealed that a superhero project he wanted Mads Mikkelsen to star in was canned due to similarities to The Boys TV show.
Since departing Konami in late 2015, Kojima has shipped one game – PlayStation console exclusive Death Stranding.
After months of rumors and speculation, the legendary developer finally confirmed that his next major project will come courtesy of apartnership with Xbox Game Studios.
Details about the mystery game remain under wraps, though uncorroborated reports claim the Xbox-published title could constituteKojima’s long-rumored horror adventure.
But recent Twitter posts have fans wondering what Kojima’s creativity could do for the world of superhero storytelling.

Over the weekend, amid ongoing hype aboutThe Boys’ latest episode,Hideo Kojimarevealed that he, too, has watched the Emmy-nominated Amazon series. The developer compared the premise of the show to a past superhero idea of his own.
Kojima’s unnamed superhero project would’ve involved a “special detective squad” taking on legendary heroes. Mads Mikkelsen, who starred in Death Stranding, served as the actor that Kojima wanted to cast in the leading role.
But similarities to The Boys at the time forced the Metal Gear Solid creator to sideline his idea in its entirety.

The Boys’ showrunner,Eric Kripke, responded to Kojima’s post, asking him to “please come make a The Boys game.” Homelander actorAntony Starrchimed in as well, seconding the notion of a Kojima-produced experience based around the series.
Notably, the developer’s tweets never specify whether or not the canceled endeavor would’ve hit the market as a video game. He merely describes it as a “project.”
