Tom Hiddleston’sLokiseries recently ended its second season with a bang, giving audiences the best character arc in the MCU. By exploring and going back to the character’s past and present, the character evolved from a formidable and selfish antagonist to a heroic selfless character. The bittersweet expression on Hiddleston’s face in the ending moments says it all.

The second season also saw the return of fan-favorite characters Mobius and Sylvie from season 1. While Mobius had a revelatory arc, finding out his true nature in the multiverse, Sylvie unfortunately had little to do this season. This has been the point of criticism of some fans who have criticized that her character provided nothing substantial this season.

Fans Criticize Sylvie’s Arc inLokiSeason 2
Lokiseason 2 continued Tom Hiddleston’s Loki and his journey to put an end to the imminent danger to the multiverse due to the death of He Who Remains in season 1. Mobius and Sylvie played by Owen Wilson and Sophia Di Martino all return to aid Loki in saving the multiverse. Sylvie had a prominent arc in season 1 where her origins and motivations were explored.
While the first season proved to be equally centered on the two Lokis, Sylvie had nothing substantial to do in season 2 and was reduced to a supporting character. This was pointed out by some fans who criticized that the writers had no idea what to do with the character. They posted their opinions onX,

Yeah I had a serious problem with it. They made her feel like a background character most of the time this season, while season 1 was very much HER storyhttps://t.co/lgFZhrqYYB

Well she is very poorly written

It’s like Waldron was the only one on the staff who didn’t realise the Loki show should actually be about Loki.
Then he did the exact same thing with Strange.

Like she was so… useless regarding the entire plot. She couldn’t have been there at all and nothing really would’ve changed.

She honestly makes like 0 sense if we’re honest

“So what we do with? Hmmm just let her be there and say stuff about how bad TVA is”

It is disappointing that Martino’s character who had an interesting arc in the first season was given nothing substantial to do in the second season that could have further elevated the storytelling. If Marvel decides to bring her back in the future, there should be a better motivation and narrative for the character so that her existence in the MCU is not wasted anymore.

“If you haven’t seen it, I will not spoil it for you but I will say this, it all comes full circle. It’s the conclusion to season 2, it’s also the conclusion to seasons 1 and 2, it’s also the conclusion to six films and 12 episodes, and 14 years of my life. I was 29 when I was cast, I’m 42 now.
