But considering that, unlike Paltrow, Alba didn’t grow up with a bunch of money, the actress feels that her tips on the topic are more grounded and relatable than Paltrow’s. She said,
“Gwyneth Paltrow probably lives a very similar lifestyle, but I didn’t grow up with a bunch of money, so my tips are much more grounded: repurposing things and making things at home,”

Despite her claims, both companies have been pretty successful, withGwyneth Paltrowreportedly making a whopping $200 million for her involvement, which is significantly higher than Alba’s $100 million. But in theFantastic Fouractress’ case, her decision to start the company was more deep-rooted with her personal reasons.

According to the actress, one of the primary reasons that pushed her to launch The Honest Company, which is named after her daughter Honor, was her motherhood. Considering that there were very limited options for reliable everyday products that aren’t infested with harmful chemicals, she decided to create a safer alternative for everyone else. She said,
“I wanted a brand that had a safer alternative, an accessible price point, and a beautiful design. My daughter’s name is Honor and she inspired me to start the company! That’s where the name comes from. I wanted to have a direct relationship with people and be able to tell my story. That’s why I launched online with a subscription e-commerce business model,”
