Ryan Reynolds, Salma Hayek, and Samuel L. Jackson had the time of their lives when they worked together on the sets of the 2021 filmHitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard. With all three actors, who have a knack for comedy, sharing the screen, accidents were bound to happen.

One such memorable and controversial accident could have happened on the sets of the 2021 movie. Talking about a comedic scene, Ryan Reynolds couldn’t control his laughter when he was filming a scene with Salma Hayek and they had to fall down.

While shooting the 2021 film, Ryan Reynolds and Samuel L. Jackson’s buddy-cop bromance became a core part of the film. With Salma Hayek portraying the role of Sonia Kincaid (the wife of Jackson’s character), it was up to the trio to save the world by chasing the terrorist organization responsible.

During one of the scenes when they are captured by the FBI, the three characters are knocked out with darts that make them unconscious. Salma Hayek reported thatRyan Reynoldswasn’t able to control his laughter because he had to fall on Hayek’s behind for comedic effect. In an interview,Yahoo! Entertainmentreported Hayek talking about refusing to shoot this particular scene and hiring body doubles instead!
“Mr. Reynolds just starts laughing before we start shooting, he’s just losing it, right before the ‘Action!’ And we were like, ‘What’s wrong with you?’. And he [laughs some more] and starts describing how he sees the scene [and] what’s gonna happen when we start falling because of the darts.”

She further continued,
“And we were laughing for a long time and Sam’s laughing super-loud. And then all of a sudden we said, ‘Yeah, that’s great. … Let the [stunt people] do it. It’s not dangerous, it’s just a really compromising position, the way we fall.”

Ryan Reynolds further clarified the scene by stating“My head falls straight into Salma’s b*tt”to which Salma Hayek added“And my face falls straight into Sam’s crotch.”Although Reynolds made a joke about situations, the actor has been extra careful ever since he revealed that he has suffered from anxiety all his life.

With all the jokes and facade aside, theDeadpoolstar revealed in a 2022 interview withCBS Newsthat every time he was welcomed on a stage, he felt that he would die there. Talking about his mental health problems, Reynolds revealed that he has been suffering from anxiety throughout his life!
“Yeah, I’ve had anxiety my whole life really. And you know, I feel like I have two parts of my personality, that one takes over when that happens. When I would go out on, like, Letterman, back in the day, I was nervous. But I remember I’d be standing backstage before the curtain would open, and I would think to myself, ‘I’m gonna die. I’m literally gonna die here.”
Well, Reynolds seems to be doing fine ever since he made the announcement public of his mental health problems. As for the 2022 movie,Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguardreceived a rating of 6.1/10 on IMDB and a low of 26% on Rotten Tomatoes. The film is available to rent on Apple TV+ in the U.S.
