The Ezra Miller-ledThe Flashfilm will soon open worldwide, and till now, there hasn’t been a single recent interview with the main star talking about the movie. But that’s to be expected. Warner Bros. Discovery is entirely relying on positive word-of-mouth after the debacle caused by Miller.

The fact that the movie is even releasing seems like a minor miracle because once upon a time in 2022 when the cases were piling up against the lead actor, there were rumors that WBD was looking to shelve the project. However, producer Barbara Muschietti has denied it all.
Barbara Muschietti Confirms There Was Never An Option To ShelveThe Flash
In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly,The Flashproducer Barbara Muschietti commented on the rumors of WBD thinking about shelving the entire film after the accusations againstEzra Millerkept piling up. She revealed that there was never any discussion about it at all. The producer said:“Not at all. No. That was never real.”

The option to shelve the entire film, which is rumored to have a production budget north of $200 million at least, was probably never on the table. Also, thanks to the positive reactions to the movie, it looks like it will perform well at the box office. But what about the Ezra Miller problem? Barbara Muschietti said she and her brother have Miller’s back. She said:
“We have a lot of empathy in general for people who need help, especially with mental health issues. That’s why they are taking the necessary steps to deal with their recovery, and we support them in that.”

So is there a possibility that Miller will return if there’s a sequel to the movie or maybe as the Flash/ Barry Allen in James Gunn’s DCU?

Will Ezra Miller Return As The Flash In The Future?
Andy Muschietti, the director ofThe Flash, spoke to theDiscoursepodcast and revealed that if a sequel to the film did get greenlit, then the only actor he will work with on that project is Ezra Miller. He said:
“If [a sequel] happens, yes, I don’t think there’s anyone that can play that character as well as they did. The other depictions of the character are great, but this particular vision of the character, they just excelled in doing it.And, as you said, the two Barrys — it feels like a character that was made for them.”

As of now, there’s speculation that WBD has no intention of giving the movie a sequel, and it’s not just because of the lead star’s actions. With James Gunn bringing the DCU, it’s expected that the majority of the previous DCEU cast will be replaced. However, one question remains- will a good box office performance turn around Miller’s career? That remains to be seen.
The Flashwill be released on August 03, 2025.
