The co-CEO of the DC Studios announced the first chapter of his new DC plan this week. While the film was said to have several action scenes between the antagonist and the protagonist, DC fans never got a look at it, as Warner Bros. canceled the film prior to its release.
The new co-CEOs, James Gunn andPeter Safran, were asked about the film’s cancelation during their new DC slate reveal. The film producer Peter Safran justified the decision by saying that it would have hurt DC.
He said that he saw the film and praised the people involved with the project before calling it“not releasable.”He also said,“It happens sometimes.”Safran then went on to say that canceling the film would not have been an easy decision for the studio.
He said,“I think Zaslav and the team made a bold and courageous decision to cancel it because it would have hurt DC and those people involved.”Peter Safran then shared that he recently talked to the film’s directors, Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah, and would love to work with them in the future.
He also said that the screenwriter ofBatgirlis already“back in business”with DC, hinting that Christina Hodson could be a part of Gunn’s writer room for the first chapter of DC,“Gods and Monsters.”Peter Safran also said that being one of the important superheroes in the DC, Batgirl will surely join the DCU in future projects.

Brendan Fraser CallsBatgirlCancellation Heartbreaking
Brendan Fraser made a huge comeback to the Hollywood limelight with Darren Aronofsky’sThe Whale.The actor, who believed that he was probably blacklisted by the industry due to some specific reasons, could have had his comeback with the 2022 film,Batgirl.
Frasor expressed his concern for his co-star, Leslie Grace, during an interview with GQ. He said that the American singer-actor worked so hard for this film and that it was “heartbreaking” to see the film get canceled after everything they did.
Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah’s film was set to release on the streaming platform HBO Max. However, Warner Bros Discovery canceled the film prior to its release. Grane also calledThe Whalestar“sweet”as she shared her experience working with him on the film.
She shared that she would have loved it if fans were able to see their performances in the film, but she still feels blessed to be able to work with Fraser.
