Rachel McAdams Only Agreed For A Cameo
Following the remarkable success of the 2009 filmSherlock Holmes,Warner Bros. wasted no time in greenlighting a sequel. This decision led to director Guy Ritchie stepping away from his planned adaptation ofLobo,andRobert Downey Jr.departing fromCowboys & Aliens,leaving the future of their involvement uncertain.
As forRachel McAdams, her participation in the sequel remained unclear at that point in time. McAdams said, “If I do, it won’t be a very big thing. It’s not a lead part.“

In a later confirmation to Entertainment Weekly, Warner Bros. revealed that Rachel McAdams would indeed have a role in theSherlock Holmessequel, although it would be a cameo appearance. Noomi Rapace ultimately portrayed the coveted female lead role in the film.
According to Joel Silver, the producer of the film, it was always their intention to feature a different type of female character for each installment of theSherlock Holmesseries, drawing inspiration from the iconic Bond girls known for their diverse roles in the James Bond films.

Rachel McAdams Has A Long List Of Turned Down Projects
