Superman is DC’s crown jewel along with Batman. From Christopher Reeve’sSupermanto Henry Cavill’sMan of Steel, the character has been adapted in multiple ways by various directors. Now, it’s time for the last son of Krypton to change lanes and dominate a different medium.
There have been films, shows, as well as video games with Batman as the lead. While the Kryptonian hero has received the same treatment, there’s one medium where he hasn’t received a good adaptation yet- videogames. However, it looks like that will change soon as Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav hints that a Superman game is coming.
WBD CEO David Zaslav Reignites Hopes For A Superman Video Game Among DC Fans
TheBatman: Arkhamseries of games developed by WB Games Montreal and Rocksteady Studios are considered to be some of the best videogames ever made. So they aren’t just good Batman games. They are great video games overall and have their own fan following. For a long time,Supermanfans wished to have something similar.

While there were seemingly always heavy rumors of a Superman game being made, nothing has materialized till now. But that may soon change. At the Q1’23 earnings call, Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav talked about their huge reserve of IPs that can be channeled into video games. He said:
“We have a very good gaming business with 11 different studios and a really talented capability. But the real differentiator for us as a company is that we own our IP. That IP belongs to us, and we’re developing it… We may be the only media company that owns–whether it be the DC universe, Harry Potter, all the content that we own, Game of Thrones–that’s for us to deploy. I think that’s particularly important strategically.”

Zaslav then specifically mentioned DC’s man of steel and said there’s a possibility that the DCU Superman’s world will be explored through video games. He said,“When we launch a product on Max or HBO, and when we have a game, that game belongs to us, but now there’s this in-betweener. It may be in the next couple of years that we launch a Superman movie and…people spend more time and there’s more economics of people just hanging out in the Superman world and universe.”
He further elaborated that the plan was to expand WBD’s business. He said, “We don’t want to be in the motion picture and long-form storytelling business and have somebody else in the business of hanging out in those worlds. Those worlds are going to be quite profitable in the years ahead.”DC fans are happy about the possibility of the man of steel getting his own game like Batman already does.
DC Fans Ecstatic About A DCU Superman Game Coming Soon
James Gunnhad already confirmed that videogames will be part of the DCU’s interconnected storytelling. Previously, he had stated that the plan was to utilize games to expand the worlds of the characters. With David Zaslav now seemingly backing up his words, it seems like once the DCU begins withSuperman: Legacy, we will see a videogame set in Clark Kent’s world come out as well.

However, not everyone is looking at this positively. Many fans of Henry Cavill’s version of the Kryptonian hero want to see a videogame set in the world of Snyderverse orMan of Steelat least. However, the possibility of that happening is low. As of now, Gunn’s DCU is all set to reboot the superhero franchise and start anew. But fans should still curb their enthusiasm because neither Zaslav nor Gunn have officially announced a Superman game yet.
Superman: Legacywill be released on 23 July 2025.
