She wanted to work on herself as a person and not focus on her acting career primarily. Labeled as a queen of the rom-com genre, Ryan’s decision to step away was purely personal. She wanted to dedicate more time to herself and her family. This included her two children, Daisy, whom she adopted in 2006 as well as the ever-famousJack Quaid, whom she had with her ex-husband Dennis Quaid back in 1992. She built and improved her relationship with them, as it helped her envision her acting career more as a job than something she surrounded her life around.

Her absence from the Hollywood industry may have been noticed by many, but it benefitted Jack Quaid greatly. Not only could he avoid having the tag of nepotism on him, but he also rose to fame thanks to his role as Hughie inThe Boys.
Labels and remarks aside, growing from his mother’s shadow would have been another challenge for Quaid on its own.
