They first connected in 1995 while working together on the set of the 10-episode Australian TV dramaCorrelli, in whichHugh Jackmanportrayed a prisoner who had experienced trauma during his arrest. And Deborra-Lee Furness played the prison psychologist Louisa Correlli, trying to help Jackman regain his memory.
In 2017, the actor told Jess Cagle ofPEOPLE:
“My first job out of drama school—it was a massive break for me. I was really scared. Deb, she was a big star. I get picked up, and Deb is in the front seat of the car. I’ll never forget.
