Born and brought up in Colombia,Sofia Vergaraand her family were living in dangerous times since the country was knee-deep in violence and paramilitary factions. It was a dangerous time to live, even more so since the Vergara family was somewhat of a potential target due to their fairly good economic status.
The actress first appeared on TV with a Pepsi ad but decided to never return since she was a devout Catholic. And soon enough she married her high school sweetheart at the age of 18.
