The Officehas been one series that the fans have loved ever since it first aired. The response that the show got was one filled with nervous attempts to live up to its British counterpart. However, with the help of Steve Carell, John Krasinski, Jenna Fisher, and the entire cast, it became the heart of what sitcoms are today.

Greg Daniels, the showrunner ofThe Officeand various other sitcoms spoke up about the matter of the iconic show getting a reboot. Ever since the news of a new attempt at the series surfaced, the response has been polarizing to an extent where half the world wants to see it happen while the other half doesn’t. The OfficeCreator Wishes to Make a Mandalorian Counterpart
A reboot ofThe Officeis something that very quickly became the talk of the town. Fans wanted to know who would take over the iconic roles and how many of the jokes would be tackled in today’s day and age. There were more questions than answers. Speaking toThe Wrap, Greg Daniels admitted that he doesn’t want the upcoming series to be considered a reboot at all.
“The notion of maybe something like the way ‘The Mandalorian’ is a new show in the Star Wars universe, you know what I mean? Something like the notion of this documentary crew doing a documentary about a different subject.”

The creator views it to instead be something of whatThe Mandalorianis toStar Wars.It is an entirely new show with its own story to tell. It stands on its own. It has an entirely new fan base alongside an array of older fans to support it as well.

Greg Daniels Doesn’t Think a Reboot is a Good Idea
Greg Daniels revealed to The Wrap that the idea ofThe Officehaving a reboot is something that does not resonate with him. He thinks of it as a show that has a sense of individuality to it. The showrunner admitted that when it comes to Steve Carell’s iconic series, a reboot would not be justifiable.
“I don’t like to think of anything as a reboot, you know what I mean?”Daniels stated.“Because I feel like we ended that story beautifully. The characters had closure. I would never want to redo that same show with a different cast, because I think we got the luckiest cast, the best cast ever, in TV, to do that show. So the notion of a reboot is not of interest.”

Daniels stated that because of how the show ended, every character got closure in their own manner. Every story was wrapped up and no stone was left unturned. So the idea of introducing a reboot would be to open a mint condition limited-edition action figure and ridding it of its value.
