The disappointing performance of the sequel has not gone unnoticed by Disney, the parent company of Marvel Entertainment as Bob Iger decided to comment on the film’s disappointing performance. The comments of the Disney CEO will not be taken in a good manner by Brie Larson’s fans as it shows a new low.

The Marvelsis the highly anticipated sequel toBrie Larson’s2019 film,Captain Marvel,and the film has managed to gross only $47 million at the box office. The collection is a new low for a Marvel Cinematic Universe film, and it is far below the standards set by Marvel and Disney Studios. The disappointing string of performances has definitely got the people and big names talking.
Though the film had a number of problems, one of the major problems that affected the film was the poor writing which led to some plotholes and flaws. Recently,Bob Igercommented on why the film performed and while many fans would believe that he would have acknowledged the flaws of the film, he tried to protect it with a poor excuse.
While talking to NYT DealBook Summit 2023 viaThe Verge, Iger blamed the company’s decision to choose quality over quantity, and that’s the exact reason for the poor performance of Brie Larson’sThe Marvels.
“The Marvels was shot during Covid, and there wasn’t enough supervision on set.”
The comments were disappointing to listen to because instead of finding the shortcomings of the film, the executives and big names are giving excuses to cover their mistakes. However, Iger is right that Disney’s decision to focus on quantity over quality was wrong and is one of the factors that led to a poor run of MCU films in recent times.

Samuel L. Jackson Protected Brie Larson’sCaptain Marvel

This interval was filled by Brie Larson’sCaptain Marvel,the film was a massive hit in the MCU as it grossed $1.1 billion at the worldwide box office. However, Brie Larson’s portrayal of the character was met with a mixed response as a small community of MCU fans showed hate for her role.
Samuel L. Jackson, who portrayed the role of Nick Fury was also a part ofCaptain Marvel.Looking at the negative response of the fanbase, he wasn’t happy. During an exclusive interview withRolling Stones, he criticized the fans for not liking a female superhero, calling them misogynists.
“Brie’s a stronger person than people give her credit for. She’s not going to let any of that stuff destroy her. These incel dudes who hate strong women, or the fact that she’s a feminist who has an opinion and expressed it? Everybody wants people to be who they want them to be. She is who she is, and she’s genuinely that.”
Larson and L. Jackson were outstanding in the first film as their chemistry in the first film was outstanding and hats off to thePulp Fictionactor for defending her co-star from the fans who showcased dislike to the actress.
