Clint Eastwood’s son Scott Eastwood recently said he turned down a role in the upcoming Suicide Squad movies due to financial differences. The actor, who played Lt. GQ Edwards in the 2016 originalSuicide Squad, ‘said Warner Bros. was unwilling to offer him a substantial salary for his involvement in the sequels. The lack of a script for the sequels also contributed to his reluctance.

Warner Bros. offered Scott Eastwood, then 35 years old, an enticing three-movie deal that included a role in the sequel toThe Suicide Squad, set to be released in 2021. Unfortunately, Eastwood was at odds with the studio over money despite the possibility of a lengthy role in the franchise.

The actor told Insider that Warner Bros.“didn’t want to pay me any money for those next movies.”This major roadblock influenced Scott Eastwood’s ultimate decision to decline the offer.

“They didn’t want to pay me any money for those next movies and … they didn’t have another script for the other movie, so I didn’t know what I was going to be signing myself up for.”

Scott Eastwoodhas voiced concerns about the lack of a concrete script for the future Suicide Squad films and the financial disagreement.  The actor was put in a dangerous position because of questions about his character’s future and the films in which he would appear.

Scott Eastwood’s Unanswered Questions

Scott Eastwood stressed that he did not know the answers to key questions about the future of The Suicide Squadfilms at the time. The studio’s pressure to commit without clarity and the lack of a solid script only added to his uncertainty.

“I didn’t have the answer to those questions at that time. I wasn’t going to have the answers, and they were pressuring me. So ultimately it didn’t happen.”

Eastwood was torn between the allure of working on a popular franchise and the need for financial security and artistic freedom. The 37-year-old actor had to decline the offer due to financial differences and a lack of clarity in the script.
