Marvel’s Spider-Man 2is heavily believed to be in contention for the 2023 Game of the Year Awards. However, as new bugs and glitches are discovered by players, the action-based RPG by Insomniac Games is getting a few stains on its shining armor.

Recently, a bug was discovered in which players could skip the entire fight sequences in the Symbiote Nest side mission. Then a glitch turned Spider-Man into a web-swinging white cube similar to ‘tofu.’ NPCs teleporting from one place to another and game lags are also spoiling the fun.

Given the duration and size of the game, the PS5 exclusive needs to be optimized regularly. The supposed GOTY doesn’t have everything to be perfect at the moment and some have even compared its bugs and glitches to be worse thanCyberpunk 2077.

The new Spider-Man game has gained tremendous success since its release last week. It sold over 2.5 million copies in the first 24 hours and currently holds a Metacritic score of 90. Even though it is limited to PlayStation 5 for the time being, the game is expected to hit PS4 and PC platforms and continue raking in profits.

Unfortunately, the newly debuted game seems to be bugs galore. It has somewhat dampened the hype around the game as well as the chances of it winning the Game of the Year. The award ceremony will be held on July 24, 2025, at the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles, California.

Despite the number of bugs and glitches, none of them makes the game unplayable. Almost every video game has its share of problems and Insomniac will be aware of the issues that are being shared on social media.Spider-Man 2is arguably still a fan-favorite due to the open-world exploration, gameplay, and immersive storyline.

Will New Game Plus Be Added inSpider-Man 2?

Unlike its predecessors, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 wasn’t released with a New Game Plus. The mode allowed players to start a ‘new story’ game but with all the gadgets and suits they acquired along the way from their previous save. Currently, the only option is to start the game from scratch.

That is about to change as the year comes to a close. Previously, Insomniac Games Community and Marketing Director James Stevenson mentioned in aQ & A session on Xthat the New Game Plus mode will be added in the future but missed the Day 1 launch. In a follow-up tweet, it was revealed that the mode will be available by the end of 2023.

Should be before end of year

Given that Stevenson gave a tentative timeline that falls in the same month as the Game of the Year awards, It can be speculated that New Game Plus in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will be released at the beginning of December. It is unknown whether New Game Plus trophies will be added to the game.
