Tom Cruise’sMission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part 1has not been getting the kindest treatment. Despite being advertised to surpass bothBarbieandOppenheimer, the movie has done far from that. It has even been considered one of Cruise’s worst films. The movie is only the seventh installment of the franchise and the first part of a duology. With the response that it has gotten so far, things aren’t looking as bright for the actor’s Ethan Hunt.

Not many enjoyed the movie and even felt it lacked quite a lot of things. The impact that the movie had was barely enough to leave a mark and the box office failure that it came to be was not one which Cruise or anyone else would have expected.

Tom Cruise’s Movie Gets Cruelly Trolled
One specific individual who was highly disappointed byMission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part 1was none other than Paul Schrader. The screenwriter disliked the film so much that he opted to compare it with what can easily be considered one of the biggest problems for writers. Artificial Intelligence is a concern for writers and yet Schrader could not help but appreciate the craft that it could have brought to life.
“Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning. Such tiresome claptrap,” Schrader added. “There’s no reason that AI, given the correct prompts, could not have written this script.”

Schrader was so disappointed by the script that he could not help but state just how better the movie could have been written if artificial intelligence was in charge. Ironically enough, the ultimate big bad for the film was in fact AI. On another note, however, Paul Schrader has been more supportive of technological control over scriptwriting than most. He has even at times encouraged it. His disappointment withTom Cruise‘s film was not one that went unnoticed.

Cillian Murphy’s Film Gets Complimented Instead Of Tom Cruise’s
Although Paul Schrader could not get himself to complimentMission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part 1,he had an ample amount of praise forOppenheimer. He is not alone in this either. Every fan has been jumping because of how brilliant Christopher Nolan’s work turned out to be. Cillian Murphy’s acting was absolutely remarkable and the supporting cast only lifted the movie even more.
“Oppenheimer. The best, most important film of this century,”he stated. “If you see one film in cinemas this year it should be Oppenheimer. I’m not a Nolan groupie but this one blows the doors off the hinges.”

Unfortunately, the screenwriter could not seeBarbie. It was not that he did not try. It was more that every single ticket for the screenings was taken. He had no other option but to opt out of the film. Schrader instead chose to watchSound of Freedom.
