Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man has shined in various films of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, if there are any movies where he has outdone himself, they are the last twoAvengersfilms.Avengers: Infinity WarandAvengers: Endgamewere two films that not only took the world by storm but became a sense of reality for the characters within the franchise as well.

Before these films, the heroes were not used to losing. They had a sense of mortality, yes, but it did not come with a cost. The cost became all too clear by the end of the first film of this duology. One that took half the entire universe away for five years. It would seem, though, that the characters who turned to dust were determined in a rather interesting manner. A game of cards.

Robert Downey Jr. Became the Reason for Peter Parker’s Death

InAvengers: Infinity Warthere was the challenge of how many characters they had to balance in one, or two, films. It was not only their narratives that came into play but how they impacted other characters as well as the audiences.

Kevin Feige, as perMCU: The Reign of Marvel Studios, gathered up the Russo Brothers, Stephen McFeely, and Christopher Markus alongside executive producer Trinh Tran. All of these people sat in a room with a bunch of cards placed. They had the actors’ salaries alongside their faces and they came to decide accordingly who would stay and who would go.

Whether one would need another contract or not and so on. However, Peter Parker’s turning into dust was purely done so as to make sure it affectedRobert Downey Jr.’sTony Stark directly. This indeed became his driving force forAvengers: Endgame, where his photo became a reminder for him to save humanity.

Similarly, Tchalla was turned to dust to break the audience. Even Bucky Barnes was killed off to impact Steve Rogers. All these deaths served a dual purpose. Not only were they crushing for those outside of the silver screen but also those within.

The Avengers Remained

MCU: The Reign of Marvel Studiosalso mentioned the role that the main six Avengers had to play. Even if they wanted to, they chose not to turn the six heroes into dust by the end ofAvengers: Infinity War.The purpose of the same was that it would allow them to focus on the main heroes in the second film.

Not only that, it would serve as a concluding storyline for all six of them, allowing them to wrap their eras in a grandiose manner. It would bring to light the stories of Tony Stark, Steve Rogers, Bruce Banner, Natasha Romanoff, Clint Barton, and Thor Odinson. The story would come to fruition with their sacrifices, their love, the care they put in, and their dedication to saving the world no matter what.
