What Is a Highlight Video on Google Photos
The Google Photos’ Highlight will use AI LMM to pick images and videos based on filters like dates, individuals, topics, and locations to automatically curate a personalized video for you.
If you are not happy with the result, Highlight Video is customizable. You can choose the length of the video, the music that plays in the background, and even the style of the video. It’s really easy to create a personalized video with Highlight Video that showcases the best moments from your collection. Now let’s check out the process of making a highlight video.
For example, you can choose 2019 as the year a New Year party as the event, and Google Photos Highlight will create a highlight using photos and videos from that party. You can also choose which people to include in the highlight video.
How to Create Highlight Video
Highlight Video has several options to create and edit the video. Let’s know how to do that.
1.In theGoogle Photosapp, go to theLibrarytab and tap onUtilities. Then tap onHighlight Videoand from here you can start creating the video.
2.Here, in theSearchsection, either you can let the AI add your photos/videos by typing the activities, locations, events, and names of persons or you can just select the suggestions available as inputs for AI. You can also select photos/videos manually by tapping onor select photosat the bottom.
3.If you want to add more photos/videos of people or pets, tap on theAdd Contact icon, select people or pets, and then hit theAdd button.
4.Tap on theCalendar iconto select a date or a range of dates. The AI will automatically select the best images within those dates for the video.
5.So after you have added all your inputs, simply tap onPreviewlocated at the top right corner and your video will start generating.
6.In the preview section, you can change the music, photos, videos, and even the aspect ratio of the video. To change the music, tap on theMusic icon. Here you have the option to remove the soundtrack or change the theme music.
7.To change the background music, simply tap onTheme music. Explore various music tracks categorized at the bottom by sliding through them. Once you find the perfect music for your video, tap onDone.
8.Now to change the aspect ratio of the video, simply tap on the button with therectangular shapeand choose the desired size.
9.And if you want to add more images or videosto the highlight video, tap on the+ icon, select photos/ videos, and then tap onAdd.
10.You can also rearrange a photo/video by holding on to the media and moving it forward or backward in the video timeline. Adjust the duration of the photo/ video by adjusting thewhite bar. And if you want to remove a photo/video from the highlight video, simply tap on it and then on theRemovebutton.
11.When you select a photo, you also get the option to enable or disable the motion of that photo. For this, after selecting the photo, tap onMotionand selectNo motionorPan and Zoom.
12 .Once you have finished editing your video, you’re able to play the video by tapping on thePlay button.If you find the video good, tap on theSave buttonto save the video.

How to Edit Saved Highlight Video
Once you tap onSave, the video will be saved in the Google Photos app. Now if you find the video needs some changes after saving, you may still edit the video.
1.Locate the video in the Photos section of the app and tap on it. Videos in Google Photos have a Clapboard icon on the top left.
2.Now tap on theEdit buttonand you can edit the video just like you edited it before saving.

Now that you have saved the highlight video, you can only access it in the Google Photos app or website and it will require an internet connection. To store it on your device locally, once you have selected the video, tap on theKebab Menu (Three horizontal dots)or swipe up on the video and selectDownload.

Why Highlight Video Is Not Creating Video
So AI creates a highlight video based on inputs provided by you. When you add inputs, the AI links them and selects the best photos/videos for the highlight video. But if you add inputs that are too narrow or unrelated to each other, you will get a message that there are not enough photos or videos to create a highlight video.
For example, here we added 2 people, 1 activity, and a place for the video. But as there are no photos of these 2 people hiking together in the mountains, AI couldn’t link them up and hence was not able to create a highlight video.
